Everyone knows that when you go on vacation or out of town for a business conference or Toronto hockey tournament, you're obligated to bring back presents for your friends and family who weren't lucky enough to go on the vacation with you. Some people even go on vacation specifically for the purpose of shopping for gifts, whether it be for the Christmas holidays, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries. If your destination is Jersey City, New Jersey, and you're going to need some help deciding where to go for the best gifts, let this article be your guide.
Newport Center
Newport Center is the largest shopping mall in all of Hudson County, so if you want a one stop destination for all your shopping needs, look no further. There are over 130 businesses housed here, ranging from restaurants to retail stores to service providers. You can see the optometrist, buy an Alfred Sung wedding gown, have a bite to eat, and of course, shop for gifts. Some of the stores you'll find here include: Armani Exchange, Frederick's of Hollywood, Godiva, Mrs. Fields Cookies, Purfumania, Yankee Candle, Victoria's Secret, Toy Zam, and Kohl's.
Hudson Mall
Looking for a multi-retailer indoor shopping district you won't get lost in? Then try the more manageable sized Hudson Mall, which has fifty stores and restaurants. That's enough to cover all the bases from laundry soap to ladies sweaters, but not so large that you'll be competing for space with half the population of Jersey City. Some of the stores you'll find here include: Toys R' Us, Old Navy, Marhshalls, and the Leather Company. There's also a food court and a movie theater.
Downtown
Malls are certainly a source of multiple shopping opportunities, but most of the time the stores you'll find there are the same ones you'll see anywhere else (say, in your hometown) so iPhone cases from there won't be special. If you want a special gift, try shopping downtown. There are antique stores, cafes, specialty clothing stores, flower and gift basket retailers, shoe stores, art galleries, furniture dealers, restaurants, tobacco shops and beauty product boutiques, all with one of a kind products.
Central Avenue
If you can't find what you're looking for downtown or would like to visit a shopping area that has a quaint "main street" feel, come to the Central Avenue Business District. There are a few chain stores here, but most offer specialty products and day spa gifts you can't find anywhere else. Some of the shops here specialize in beauty supplies, books and magazines, electronics, fresh food, flowers, furniture, gifts, hardware, liquor, pet supplies, clothing and shoes, or toys. There are also several department stores and dollars stores here.
